The Rhizosphere refers to the surface of the roots and surrounding portion of the soil: where a community of dynamic microorganisms live.

The microbes inhabiting the rhizosphere live in close association with the roots, on the root surfaces as well as within and between the plant’s cells. Bacteria are the largest constituent in both numbers and diversity by far.
